The capital Arrecife is well worth a visit - it is a very welcoming city with old world charm plus wonderful shops and street cafes.

At the heart of Teguise is a lovely town square, the San Miguel Plaza, which becomes the center of a market, which is held every Sunday morning.Teguise was the capital of Lanzarote up until 1852, when Arrecife became the Capital due to it's increased importance as a Port.
